Located in Lesvos, Greece Methymnaeos Winery produces the only wines in the world from the ancient Chidiriotiko grape. Historically, Lesvos produced the most expensive wines of antiquity. In 1985, Dimitris Lambrou started replanting the ancient red grape variety Chidiriotiko. The vines are organically grown in the crater of the volcano which created the Petrified Forest.
